Chinese Defense Minister Calls for Expanded Military Cooperation at 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum

BEIJING — Chinese Minister of National Defense Dong Jun hosted bilateral defense discussions with international counterparts in Beijing ahead of the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, Xinhua reported on September 15, 2026.

Dong met with defense officials from Myanmar, Brunei, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia, as well as ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn. During the meetings, Dong stated the Chinese military’s readiness to deepen practical defense cooperation, address global security challenges, and advance the Global Security Initiative. The three-day forum, held under the theme “Build Consensus on Stability, Advance Security Governance Together,” has gathered delegates from nearly 100 countries and international organizations.
