KNOB NOSTER, Mo. — The U.S. military is rapidly expanding specialized ground infrastructure for its next-generation defense assets, awarding a critical defense contract to construct a specialized weapons release system storage facility dedicated to supporting the B-21 Raider program at Whiteman Air Force Base.
The contract, issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Kansas City district to Missouri-based K & K Industries Inc., carries a firm-fixed-price of $13.6 million with a cumulative value reaching nearly $15 million. Funded through fiscal 2026 military construction defense-wide appropriations, the project will be executed directly in Knob Noster, Missouri, with completion slated for March 31, 2028.
Whiteman Air Force Base—already renowned as a primary operational hub for America’s strategic stealth bomber fleet—is undergoing continuous facility enhancements to safely house, maintain, and arm advanced low-observable platforms like the B-21. As the Pentagon accelerates its strategic deterrence posture, robust munitions storage and specialized ordnance handling infrastructure remain paramount to maintaining the global strike fleet’s operational readiness.
