ELDORET, Kenya — The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has initiated the construction of a new ammunition production line at the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC) facility in Eldoret as part of a broader strategy to scale up domestic defense manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
The groundbreaking ceremony, presided over by Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri, marks the formal start of an integrated, three-phase modernization program aimed at refurbishing existing lines and expanding small arms ammunition manufacturing.
Upon full completion targeted for Financial Year 2027/2028, the upgraded facility is projected to boost KOFC’s overall production capacity by approximately 35 percent, ensuring a continuous supply of small arms ammunition and auxiliary hardware for KDF land, sea, and air operations.
