Boeing has been awarded a contract for the initial four full-rate production MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, following the U.S. Air Force’s recent milestone in achieving initial operational capability.
PHILADELPHIA, October 1, 2026 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] has secured a contract for its first batch of four full-rate production MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters. The award follows the U.S. Air Force’s declaration of initial operating capability (IOC) for the program earlier this year.
Bolstering Strategic Missile Field Security
“This milestone validates key readiness levels for Grey Wolf and supports the service’s fielding plans to secure vital national assets across the country’s strategic missile fields,” said Kathleen Jolivette, vice president and general manager of Vertical Lift Programs for Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “Adding these aircraft to the production queue brings additional momentum to ongoing fielding and modernization efforts.”
Expanding Fleet Capacity and Deployment
The inaugural full-rate production award paves the way to scale MH-139A deployments for active, real-world military operations. With this latest agreement, the total number of contracted MH-139As has risen to 42, alongside 27 aircraft already delivered by Boeing to date.
