ST. LOUIS & IRVINE, Calif. — Boeing and Anduril Industries have been selected by the U.S. Army to advance to the next phase of the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition.
The program aims to deploy a high-performance, mass-producible midrange interceptor designed to protect fixed and forward operating bases from cruise missiles, militarized uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), and related airborne threats.
Under the partnership, the team leverages Boeing’s seeker technology and compact airframe integrated with Anduril’s high-performance Solid Rocket Motor (SRM). The system is tailored to cover the operational engagement gap between short-range point defense systems and high-cost long-range air defense batteries.
Production will utilize Anduril’s newly established 450-acre Mississippi Solid Rocket Motor Complex—built through $100 million in private capital and $58 million in Defense Production Act Title III funding—to mitigate historical SRM supply chain bottlenecks.
The award transitions the Boeing-Anduril team into detailed design, system integration, and competitive capability demonstration ahead of U.S. Army operational testing.
