Saildrone has announced that its Voyager unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) have been officially registered by the Danish Maritime Authority, marking the first time autonomous surface vessels have secured formal national flag status. Developed through close collaboration under the DMA’s Regulatory Future Lab, this framework establishes a pioneering legal foundation for operating uncrewed platforms in international waters.
Following joint operations with the Royal Danish Navy in the Baltic Sea, this milestone accelerates Saildrone’s European expansion and deepens its integration with regional defense partners. By securing Danish flag registration and establishing a permanent headquarters in Copenhagen alongside new production partnerships, the company reinforces its capability to deliver secure, compliant autonomous solutions for maritime domain awareness and critical infrastructure protection.
